We are fans of Nokia's XpressMusic phones because they are so simple minded. Just push the play button on the phone and the music starts. No muss, no fuss. But our fanaticism can not go that far, and although we love the updated look of the Nokia 5130, we must admit that the music player and multimedia experience felt dated and unattractive, especially compared with the competition as the reader Sony Ericsson Walkman excellent music on their Walkman phones.Even so, the unique look, with its colorful plastic Luscious, elegant design and bounce the light display is sure to win fans, and at this low price, the phone makes replacement very well if you always wear around d ' a simple cell phone and iPod. The Nokia 5130 is a classic Nokia design, retaining elements of the XpressMusic family which we have always enjoyed, while retaining the company slightly rounded aesthetic candy bar. The phone is a bit of the Nokia 5310 phone, we examined more than a year earlier.The latter is still available at T-Mobile, now free with a contract. We like the Nokia 5130 retains the playback controls outside of the Nokia 5310, but if a phone is bigger in all dimensions, particularly thickness is where the Nokia 5130 is approximately 50% more thicker than the thin, dense Nokia 5310. The Nokia 5130 is also more than a half ounce and heavier, it is now mostly dressed in shiny plastic instead of metal shell of 5310. This gives the phone a feel lighter, more playful than serious, and the plastic allows Nokia to use some interesting textures and styles to create a very modern relief device.

Nokia 5130 XpressMusic comes to T-Mobile

T-Mobile subscribers looking to get in on the whole musicphone craze at a bare minimum of expense need look no further than the just-announced Nokia 5130 XpressMusic, a colorful candybar previously announced for other parts of the world that features a 2 megapixel cam, 2-inch QVGA display, integrated FM radio, and -- most importantly -- a 3.5mm headphone jack. Considering that there's no 3G, we're not necessarily sure why you'd pick this over the stylish 5310 -- especially considering that it's now free on contract -- but if you're digging the new model in either its Black / Red or White / Aqua color schemes, you're welcome to grab it now for $29.99 on a two-year deal after discount and rebate.

The only advantage this has over the 5310 to me is that it's quad band rather than just tri-band (850/1800/1900 for US/Canada and 900/1800/1900 for everywhere else.) Also it appears that the micro SD card is capable of up to 16 GB where th e 5310 maxes at 4 GB (or so I've been lead to believe.)

This newer model Xpress Music phone also appears to be thicker than the 5310 as well.

As a side note: I'm waiting for UPS to deliver my second replacement since the first one the alarm function wouldn't work. The one that I'm getting a replacement for the phone crashes when trying to update currency conversion rates in the converter ap.

I am excited as T-Mobile has come up with the latest 5130 music phone. The design is very simple and decent. The display is quite bright, very attractive. The picture quality is decent enough. The music player is outstanding. This phone is specially meant for music lovers. Battery life is very satisfying. The only drawback is the slippery keypad.
